This event was hosted by the »¨½·Ö±²¥ in partnership with Kawerak’s Northwest »¨½·Ö±²¥ Wellness Initiative (NAWI).
The purpose of this meeting was to:
- Bring people together from across »¨½·Ö±²¥ to focus on »¨½·Ö±²¥ Native community strengths
- Discuss how research can document, understand, and support community strengths
- Build capacity to do research by and for »¨½·Ö±²¥ Native people
- Identify strategies and successes in transforming communities, institutions and services
- Identify what youth, communities, and institutions are doing to strengthen culture and wellbeing

This event was hosted by the »¨½·Ö±²¥ in partnership with Kawerak’s Northwest »¨½·Ö±²¥ Wellness Initiative (NAWI) and First »¨½·Ö±²¥ns Institute.
This collaborative event brought a diverse group of people together from across the state representing various groups, agencies and individuals involved in the work of bringing about and promoting positive change and wellbeing for all »¨½·Ö±²¥ns.
The gathering took place over two days and involved the sharing of stories of strength and success from within our »¨½·Ö±²¥ Native communities along with working sessions and group dialogues focusing on the following themes:
- Creating new partnerships for promoting community strengths and wellness as suicide prevention.
- Community-driven research to increase health and wellbeing and improve services
- Focusing on community strengths and wellbeing as prevention.
