In times of plenty, we need to prepare for times of scarcity. Sarah Lewis, health, home and family development agent for the UAF Cooperative Extension Service in Juneau, will lead a class outlining how to start, maintain, and rotate a long-term, emergency pantry based on the foods your household already enjoys. Attendees will also learn strategies to prevent food loss due to freezer or power failure and steps you can take to preserve food should a failure occur.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, Lewis will lead the workshop at the Juneau Public Library downtown, 292 Marine Way.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, Lewis will repeat the workshop at Mendenhall Valley Library, 3025 Diamond Pk Lp.

For more information, contact Lewis at sarah.lewis@alaska.edu or 907-455-2010.
